Training Packages
Training for practitioners.
Pathways are dedicated to improving outcomes for young people. We offer a range of training courses for practitioners.
Our ongoing aim is to create a replicable model of good practice for all practitioners including foster carers, housing providers and social workers.
We are part of the South East Strategic Partnership for Migration Regional Training Programme, funded by the Home Office to build the capacity of Local Authorities working with UASC. The programme involves leading organisations in the sector (with experience in trafficking, age assessments, mental health, and other relevant, complex issues) to support local authorities and ensure best practice.
Introduction to working with unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.
Our comprehensive, one day course is an introduction to supporting unaccompanied asylum-seeking children. Participants gain an understanding of definitions, laws, displaced persons, the journey, introduction to the asylum system, age assessments and risk management strategies for new arrivals. We cover supporting culturally and linguistically diverse young people including cultural competence, trauma, wellbeing, and human rights. The day ends with looking at an introduction to best practice support planning.

Planning Star.
As part of our Home Office funded work, we spent two years working with Triangle Consulting and the South East Strategic Migration Partnership to design, pilot and implement a new Outcomes Star known as the ‘Planning Star™ for young refugees and asylum seekers. Since its launch in July 2019, we have worked in partnership training Local Authority practitioners on how to use it in practice.
For more information about Planning Star contact Triangle .
Since March 2020, we have been working in partnership with Triangle, to ensure all UK Local Authorities, agencies and providers can access the Planning Star training and our other training as needed.
Contact us about how we can help you, and we’ll be in touch.
“This new Star, it is so good because it will help young people like me who are waiting for their asylum, because it makes us talk to our key worker about how we are feeling and if we understand things about life here.’
